4 for Freedom complaint.

July 7th, 2008 by Dem Jones

I got to work this morning and started my week off with a negative.  If you were listening to The Buzz over the 4th of July weekend, you probably heard that we did a “4 for Freedom Weekend“.  It was just a fun way to do something different for the long holiday weekend.  It was a lot of work, but we did it as a special little gift for you, the listener.

Over the weekend I received a few calls and emails from people saying how much they were enjoying the feature as they hung out with their friends and family.  I was feeling pretty good about it. I was happy that we put in the extra effort to make it happen…then I got an email from my boss. It was a complaint that someone had sent to him, and he forwarded it to me. Here it is:

Subject: 4play bands

How can you not play 4 from Ted Nugent. You claim you play music from the founding fathers of rock and roll, and as Mr.Nugent was celebrating his 6000th concert in Detroit Michigan, your station failed to play even 1 song from him. His song Lovejacker from the Spirit of the Wild CD,is amazing.I am a big fan of your station but lately I am becoming more and more disgusted.Thank You for your time.

“Disgusted”?  Really?  That’s kinda strong don’t ya think?

Well Jim, I’m sorry we let you down sir.  I hope it didn’t ruin your weekend.

The silver lining in this little cloud of negativity? Uncle Ted would be proud that you spoke your mind the way you did.  YOU sir are a True Amurican!

This place is a ghost town. Everyone has checked out for the long weekend ahead.

Those of us that are still here are OBVIOUSLY hard at work. Ahem.

Google is creepy

June 30th, 2008 by Dem Jones

Wanna see something freaky?

Go to Google Maps and enter your address.
If a window pops up with a little picture that says Street View, click it.
If that option doesn’t appear, click on the Street View button at the top right edge of the map.
Find a street with a blue highlight around it, and go there.
Once you have the Street View window open, use your arrow keys or mouse to get around. I prefer the arrow keys.
It’s also better if you make the Street View full screen.

There are all sorts of websites out there that show the cool stuff users have spotted on Street View.

Here’s where I’m writing this blog from right now.  Click the image below and mess with your arrow keys.

People have already brought up the possible privacy issues that come with this new technology.

2nd Amendment

June 26th, 2008 by Dem Jones

The following is going to sound strange coming from someone who if forced to label himself would choose “Liberal”.

I am quite happy that the United State Supreme Court just decided to eject Washington, D.C.’s, ban on handgun ownership.

Residents of D.C. can now legally defend themselves with a hand gun in their own homes for the first time in 3 decades.

This is a major win for proponents of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution

Here’s a quick article  about the ruling.

Check out CNN’s feature Americans’ relationships with guns

Also, take a look at an interesting book called “Armed America-Portraits of gun owners in their homes”

I could write pages about this, but I’ll let you make up your own mind….
